Alexis Hiniker
Associate Professor: Information School at the University of Washington; Director of the User Empowerment Lab.
Her work in human-computer interaction focuses on the ethical design of tech and inventing digital products that support a meaningful life.
She studies compulsive technology use, dark patterns, and the effect of technology relationships. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, WSJ, and more.
“Technology has the potential to help us deepen our relationships and grow into the best versions of ourselves, but too often it does just the opposite. I am so excited to be working with the Be Kind Fund and to advocate for products that bring out the best–rather than worst–in each of us.”
